A small countryside home, reflecting the essence of Vermont living — simple, efficient, and deeply connected to nature. Designed and built by Velvære, this two-bedroom, two-bath home embodies our belief that good design is both beautiful and purposeful.

The stacked cedar exterior brings texture and warmth to its clean modern form, blending seamlessly into the landscape. Wood serves not just as structure and finish, but as a source of heat and comfort. A central wood-burning stove anchors the living space, creating a natural gathering point that embodies the home’s spirit of function and simplicity.

Inside, every square foot has intention. The open floor plan supports daily family life with connected kitchen, dining, and living area, while large windows frame views of the outdoors and fill the interiors with natural light — even on those cloudy Vermont days. Materials are honest, durable, and low-impact, chosen to enhance air quality and long-term performance.

Built as an all-electric home with high-performance insulation, triple-pane windows, and an energy recovery ventilation system, Hytta offers a comfortable, energy-efficient environment year-round. It has achieved Efficiency Vermont’s highest standards.

Currently home to a young family, the design was also planned for the future — adaptable as a high-performing short-term rental that can provide supplemental income when life shifts.
